Galatasaray vs Kayserispor prediction 15.01.2024

Galatasaray won the title last season, leaving the 2nd-placed Fenerbahce eight points behind. Over the Summer, Galatasaray and Fenerbahce spent a lot of money and are head and shoulders above the rest of the league. Currently, Galatasaray are 2nd with 48 points, two points away from the 1st-placed Fenerbahce, but also 12 away from the 3rd-placed Trabzonspor. So, we will most likely see a two-team battle for the title this year. Also, Galatasaray were solid in the Champions League and were in a position to advance to the knockout phase but blew the opportunity as they lost the last game vs FC Copenhagen. Still, they finished 3rd and will continue their European journey in the Europa League. 

Since coming to Super Lig in the 2014/15 season, Kayserispor were mostly in the mid or lower part of the league's table. But this season, the Anatolian Star impressed everyone with a solid start to the season. After 15 rounds, they even held 3rd place, but after losing four in a row, they dropped to 6th place - three points away from European spots.

Galatasaray have won 15 of 19 games (79%) in Super Lig, while having an absolutely crazy home record of all nine wins in the league. They generally impressed this season defensively, and there aren't too many teams capable of scoring against Galata. Incredibly, Galatasaray have kept a clean sheet on 58% of their Super Lig games. On the other hand, Galatasaray are doing fine offensively, but the general impression is that they are capable of more as they have the highest xG stats in the league but have scored 20 goals less than Fenerbahce. We think it is only a matter of time before they start scoring, and out-of-form Kayserispor could be the perfect opponent for it. 

Kayserispor lost four in a row while allowing an incredible 13 goals - 3.25 per game. Their defense totally collapsed, and it is hard to expect a positive performance against the best home team in the league. 

In the previous h2h game at Rams Park, Galatasaray absolutely humiliated Kayserispor, winning 6:0. Considering Galatasaray's incredible home record and Kayserispor's terrible form, anything but a comfortable win for last season's champs would surprise us.
