- Venue: Hillsborough (Sheffield)
After a dominant 4:0 win for Peterborough United in the first leg of the Playoff Semi-Finals, we are headed to Sheffield for the second leg.
Sheffield Wednesday were knocked out of the Playoffs Semi-Finals last season, and we will most likely see the same scenario in this one. They have been great during the regular season and missed the direct promotion only by two points, but their chances are slim to advance to finals after only 90 minutes.
Sheffield Wednesday came to these Playoffs as the favorites and were in super form with four straight wins before the Peterborough game. Still, when it mattered the most, they collapsed.
Peterborough United were relegated from Championship last season and looking for an instant return. Peterborough barely made the Playoffs in the last round of the regular season. They secured it because the 7th-placed Derby lost to Sheffield Wednesday. Ironically, Sheffield Wednesday pushed Peterborough to the playoffs, and it looks like that will cost them.
Sheffield Wednesday vs Peterborough United pick: Both teams to score
In the second leg, we will see a more offensive Sheffield Wednesday than usual because they have nothing to lose, which could result in an exciting game with many goals. Still, if they open up too much, Peterborough will punish them as they did in the first game.
During the regular season, Sheffield Wednesday held the second-best offensive record at home, with 49 goals scored in 23 matches - 2.13 per game. Additionally, they have scored at least one goal at home in the previous 14 games.
Peterborough showed in the first match that they can score with ease. Additionally, they scored in five of the last six road matches.
On the other hand, Peterborough struggled defensively throughout the season and have by far the worst defensive record from teams in the top six. In the regular season, they allowed 54 goals in 46 rounds.
At Hillsborough (Sheffield), four of the last five h2h games finished with both teams scoring.
