A fascinating Bundesliga contest takes place this weekend with both teams still fighting for their Bundesliga future.

Hosts Mainz looked odds-on to be relegated just one month ago but a string of impressive results under new boss Bo Henriksen has lifted the Die Nullfünfer five points clear of the drop zone and ahead of Bochum, who currently occupy the relegation playoff position, on goal difference.

Picking up 11 points from their last five unbeaten Bundesliga matches, Mainz now find themselves looking upwards as we head into the final weeks of the campaign. The hosts have won four and drawn one of their last five matches at MEWA ARENA after previously winning just one of nine Bundesliga home fixtures between August and February. 

Impressively, Svennson´s side scored four goals in back-to-back home victories against Darmstadt (4:0) and Hoffenheim (4:1) in their two most recent home contests.

Contrastingly, visiting Koln have only managed to win one of their last ten league games and now face the very real prospect of relegation to Bundesliga II. Timo Schultz´s side have lost their last two Bundesliga fixtures while they have failed to win any of their last eight on the road. The Billy Goats also suffered a 5:0 defeat on their last visit to MEWA ARENA last season. 

While Koln did pick up draws in four of their last five road fixtures, Schultz´s men will see this match as a must-win in their bid to avoid relegation. However, with Mainz in such good form, I fancy the home side to claim another vital win this weekend.
