In the upcoming 45th round of League One fixtures, all eyes will be on the clash between Oxford United and Stevenage, two teams competing to secure their positions in the playoffs,

Oxford United's playoff chase suffered a major setback as they lost 1:0 vs Lincoln at home in the last match. Currently, they are in 6th place, just two points away from dropping from the playoff. On the other side, direct promotion is out of the question since they are 13 points away. So, the only goal is to secure the playoff spot, and considering they had OK results against the teams currently between the 3rd and 5th place, the U's have every reason to be optimistic about their chances in the PO. 

Stevenage secured promotion last season after finishing second in League Two and had an excellent campaign this year in League One. Throughout the season, they were constantly in the top six, but due to a terrible last part of the season, they are now 9th, six points away from their next opponent and the desired 6th spot. Even potential two wins would hardly give them a chance of promotion because they have a much worse goal difference, which is the tie-breaker. 

Oxford United vs Stevenage pick: Oxford United to win

Oxford Utd were on an excellent three-game winning streak before losing the last game 1:0 vs Lincoln. Before that loss, Oxford won three games with a 13:0 goal difference, including a massive 5:0 win over Peterborough! Even though the U's lost against Lincoln, they were a significantly better team in that matchup, having 66% ball possession and almost double the amount of goal attempts. So, even though they lost the match, we still think they are one of the hottest teams in the league.

On the other hand, Stevenage won just once in the last ten matches, and that only win came on home turf. Away from home, we give them very little chance of upsetting the U's.

In the first h2h game, Oxford dominated the game and won 3:1 away from home. Considering all the above, we strongly believe Oxford will win this match and make a big step in securing the playoffs.
