A mouthwatering Champions League quarter-final second leg takes place at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday as Man City hosts Real Madrid.

For the third season in a row, Manchester City and Real Madrid lockhorns in the knockout phase of the Champions League. In fact, Wednesday´s second leg will be their eighth meeting since 2020. Six of their seven previous meetings saw BTTS with an average of more than four goals scored per game, including last week´s thrilling first leg in  Madrid.

In a roller-coaster contest, both teams enjoyed first-half leads before a fabulous second-half saw the tie poised evenly with six goals shared in a wonderful 3:3 draw.

Given the history, and what's at stake, it's hard to imagine a dull contest this week. Since last season´s painful exit, Real Madrid have gone nine games unbeaten in the UCL with seven wins picked up this season. On their travels, Real have lost just two of their last 22 games across all competitions (both against city rivals Atletico) while they are unbeaten in their 15 most recent fixtures.

Ultimately, this tie has the potential to go down in Champions League history as one for the ages. I expect BTTS, at least four goals scored, with both teams tipped to score two plus goals. 

BTTS and over 2.5 goals is a solid choice, while over 3.5 goals should also prove profitable on a night where both teams will feel confident of securing their place in the semi-finals.

Expect plenty of goals, and drama in what is sure to be another dramatic night of Champions League action.
