- Competition: Super League
- Date: Thursday, 25th May 2023
- Kickoff: 19:30 UK / 20:30 CEST
- Venue: Stadio di Cornaredo (Lugano)
Lugano are having an excellent season by their standard. They will secure Europe (qualifications) for the second year in a row. They were 4th the last year and secured Europa Conference League, and this season they have already secured the ECL Qualifications and are only three points away from the 2nd-placed Servette and the Champions League spot. But with only two rounds left, they have a challenging task ahead of them.
Lugano are in excellent form in the last couple of months. They lost only once in the previous 18 games.
Young Boys are the best team in Switzerland in recent years (except last season when they finished 3rd). They have already won the title in Super League and were dominant with 71 points in 34 matches. For comparison, 2nd-placed Servette have won 17 points less!
Lugano vs Young Boys pick: Over 2.5 goals
Lugano are in very good form. They won four of the last six matches and managed to score at least two goals in five of those six games. On the other hand, they are not a great defensive team and allowed at least one goal in five of the previous six matches.
Young Boys are by far the best offensive team in Switzerland. They score 80 goals in 34 games in Super League - 2.35 per game. The second-best offensive team is St. Gallen, with 20 fewer goals scored.
Because Young Boys are great offensively, they mostly play high-scoring games. In Super League, they were 21 times over 2.5 goals in 34 rounds.
Since this is a must-win for Lugano to secure the Champions League qualifications, they must attack. And if they open too much, Young Boys could easily punish them and score a couple of easy goals.

Lugano team news
Coach Mattia Croci-Torti spoke to the media after a 1:1 draw in the last match against Basel. He said they had the ball possession in the first 45 minutes but weren't aggressive enough in the last 20 meters. He said the second half was much better, where they had almost 60% ball possession and five shots on goal, while Basel had zero.
Lukas Mai will miss the game with a tendon injury. The 23-year-old German was one of the team's best central defenders this season. He started in almost every match before the injury.
Another starting central defender, Fabio Daprela, will miss the game with an injury.
