We can't remember when the championship race in the Segunda Division has been more interesting than this season. Believe it or not, all the first six teams in the table are involved in the battle for the title, and one of them is Levante, which is currently sitting in the fifth position in the table with only two points deficit compared to the current leader, the Las Palmas team. 

The team from Valencia, eager for an express return to the highest level of Spanish football, will have a fairly easy job on Monday when they host UD Ibiza, a team that has already packed its bags and is waiting for the end of the season to move to the third Spanish football league.

These rivals have only met once so far, which should come as no surprise given that last summer Ibiza secured promotion to the Segunda Division for the first time in their history. Then the club from Valencia, despite playing with one less player, managed to turn the result around and solve it in their favor in a narrow 2-1 victory.

Coach Javier Calleja's team is playing very unstable and it at the most important possible moment. Just when they seemed to be out of the crisis after a routine 2-0 triumph over direct rivals in the fight for promotion Alaves, they were returned to factory settings again, since the players of Tenerife (0-1) were better than them last week.

Levante, the team with the biggest budget in the Segunda Division, will have to return to winning ways as soon as possible and make an attack toward the first two places that bring direct promotion to LaLiga. The encouraging news is that the match against UD Ibiza will be played at home, where they have been otherwise good lately, having won seven of their previous 11 competitive games at their stadium.

UD Ibiza, along with Lugo, showed by far the least of all the teams, which is why it should not be surprising that they signed relegation from the Segunda Division much earlier. The terrible form during April (only one point won from five rounds) continued in May, as last time they experienced a debacle against Albacete in a heavy defeat of 0-5.

With that failure, the club from the Balearic Islands registered a fifth consecutive negative "notch", not to mention that they conceded at least three goals on three occasions during that losing streak. Levante, who are desperately looking for a triumph, will not have a better chance from this to add three new points and continue to grab towards places of direct promotion.
