Championship promotion hopefuls Ipswich face a crucial contest on Wednesday when they take on Watford at Portman Road.

Ipswich returns to home soil after a disappointing 1:0 road loss at rivals Norwich City on Sunday. However, despite that setback, the Tractor Boys remain on course for promotion with the hosts still second in the division, one point clear of third placed Leeds.

With just five games left to play in the season, Ipswich can move a step closer to achieving their unlikely dream of a return to the Premiership this summer. 

At Portman Road, Ipswich have been in brilliant form with victories picked up in each of their last five matches in front of their own support. Kieran McKenna´s side now boast an impressive 18-game unbeaten run on their own turf, with 14 wins picked up during that unvanquished sequence. 

Watford make the trip north in less than convincing form with the Hornets winning only one of their last eight Championship fixtures. Under the charge of Tom Clelverley, Wednesday´s visitors find themselves 14th in the Championship and out of contention for a playoff place. The away side have drawn each of their last three league matches to sit nine points above the drop zone.

On their travels, the Hornets have proven tough to beat this season with only two defeats in their last 12 away fixtures but avoiding a defeat at an on-form Ipswich could be too much to ask. 

Goals can be expected with Ipswich seeing BTTS in 13 of their last 15 league games on their own patch while the Hornets have failed to score in just two of their last 12 on the road. 

Ultimately, it's tough to back against Ipswich and I'm confident McKenna´s men can maintain their superb winning run at Portman Road. 

I'm backing the hosts to win with the expectation we could also see goals at both ends.
