After eight years of constantly sitting in the lower part of the league's table, Augsburg are playing an excellent season. Right now, they are 7th with 36 points, and if Bayer wins the Cup, the 7th placed team in the Bundesliga will qualify for the Europa Conference League. However, Hoffenheim and Freiburg, which are behind, are on a level with points, and considering Augsburg will have a really tough schedule, qualifying for Europe will definitely be a challenging task. 

Last season, Union Berlin secured 4th place and the Champions League appearance for the first time in the club's history. Everyone expected them to build on that, but that was not the case. Far from it! They were at the bottom of the league table after the first 13 rounds in the Bundesliga, looking like a relegation candidate. Still, things started to change in December, and are now in 13th place, six points away from the relegation zone.

Augsburg are on a mini-crisis, having won just one point in the last two games vs Hoffenheim and FC Koln. At home, they are generally not such a strong team, winning only 35.7% of their Bundesliga games (five of 14).

It seems that Union Berlin are a totally different team in the second part of the season. Lately, in the last nine matches, their only losses were against good teams - Bayer, Stuttgart, and Dortmund. Additionally, away from home, they were atrocious throughout the season, but we can see improvements there, having lost just once in the last three matches. 

In the first h2h game, we saw a 1:1 draw in a match where Union Berlin even missed a penalty. We expect a close match, but considering all the above, we believe that Union Berlin should secure a positive result.
