Iceland Preview, Predictions, Players and Stats

A first ever appearance at a FIFA World Cup for the smallest country ever at the World Cup. Iceland will play on World Cup 2018 for the first time in their history on the biggest of tournaments. Here's everything you need to know about the team:

Iceland have played very well over the last several years and they are highly motivated for the World Cup 2018 in Russia. Last year's run to the Euro 2016 quarter-finals was a big success, especially knocking out England on a memorable night for whole nation. Iceland was then stopped by hosts France in the quarterfinals, but the tournament was a major success nonetheless. They topped the UEFA qualification Group I ahead of Croatia, Ukraine, Turkey, Finland and Kosovo. So, we can definitely say they deserve to be in Russia and they are no team to underestimate.

Iceland Prediction and Expectations on World Cup 2018

Iceland will play in Group D with Argentina, Croatia and Nigeria and they don't have big chances to go through. They have played with Croatia in the qualification campaign and beat them at 1-0 at home. All expect Iceland to beat Nigeria, so if want to reach Round of 16 then need to collect at least one point against Croatia. So Matchday 3 and match against Croatia will be the most important game for them in their history and they are highly motivated to make another one big success in a row. Of course, they are underdogs, but this is an underdog that is capable of making a run and nothing can be ruled out.
