When it comes to the previous meetings between these two sides, Villarreal are the better side. Malaga have won the last game that they have played, a friendly match this summer. Before that the last time that Malaga managed to beat their today’s rival in a league match was in April 2014. In the meantime, Villarreal have won four games and drawn one.

Villarreal have lots of missing players for the match against Malaga. Andrés Fernández, Sergio Asenjo, Rúben Semedo, Bruno Soriano and Samu Castillejo are injured and they will not play for sure. Álvaro González and Manu Trigueros are suspended and they can't play Today. Jaume Costa is not fully fit and he is doubtful for the match. All other players are available to play and all of them are highly motivated to play aggressive from the first minute.
