Germany

After a disappointing 2-1 away defeat by Ukraine on Thursday evening, Switzerland face a quick turnaround against Germany in their next Nations League group game. Germany forced David de Gea into a string of fine saves but were ultimately forced to share the spoils against Spain after Jose Gaya's stoppage-time equaliser.

Joachim Low will be expecting a response from his players, who are notably weakened by his decision to rest those who featured in the Champions League last month.

Will they capitalise against a Switzerland side whose confidence has been dented? Or can Vladimir Petkovic's men spring a surprise on a side they've only played once before? Read my match preview, for the correct score predictions and best betting tips ahead of this fixture.

Switzerland vs Germany Betting Tips

After no goals in his last four internationals, Benfica's Haris Seferovic has scored twice in successive fixtures. Teed up by Swiss captain and Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka, the 28-year-old's finish was one of few memorable moments as Ukraine reigned supreme on Thursday.

Besides them, Torino's Ricardo Rodriguez and Borussia Monchengladbach defender Nico Elvedi, there's a case to be made for wholesale changes by Petkovic here. They were collectively poor against Ukraine, were outfought (less tackles, interceptions and clearances) and ultimately second best.

Unfortunately for Petkovic, depth isn't something he can really boast in abundance – unlike Germany. Even without the Bayern Munich players who starred in the Champions League and Chelsea-bound Kai Havertz, they still have a better team on paper than the Swiss this weekend.

It applies further pressure on Xhaka – five of seven duels won, three tackles, two key passes, one assist – and others to unlock a motivated German backline here. Emre Can and Niklas Sule aren't the quickest, while Thilo Kehrer isn't a natural right-back – yet it'll be interesting to see how Breel Embolo and co fare.

Switzerland vs Germany Correct Score Predictions

Switzerland reached the Nations League semi-finals last summer and ultimately achieved a third-placed finish.

However, they'll do well to earn a result against Germany – who should prove too much for them to handle here.
