Although their Euro 2020 qualification playoff match was indefinitely postponed in March, we get a preview of that upcoming clash this week when Scotland host Israel. Before then though, these two sides duel in the first match of their UEFA Nations League group, which also features Czech Republic and Slovakia.

Israel (world no.93) are the lowest-ranked side from the quartet, but Willi Ruttensteiner’s side look to snap Scotland’s three-match winning streak on Friday evening. By contrast, the visitors have won just one of their last seven internationals (3-1 against Latvia, Oct 2019) and face a tricky test if they’re to improve that record here.

Scotland vs Israel Betting Tips

Israel travel to Hampden Park knowing they’ve lost their last two international fixtures and alarmingly, four of the last five. If they’re to earn any momentum ahead of the aforementioned crunch clash on October 8, an improved performance and result are important.

After four consecutive losses against Belgium and Russia between June and October last year, former Premier League boss Steve Clarke saw marked improvement since.

They scored 11 goals in three matches against San Marino, Cyprus and Kazakhstan but deep down, they’ll know that steamrolling weaker opposition doesn’t help them long-term.

This fixture and next Monday’s away trip to Czech Republic will present more difficult challenges as they aim to truly develop into a better footballing nation. With a handful of notable Premier League players named in Clarke’s latest squad, it’s easy to see the potential they possess.

Liverpool’s Andrew Robertson, fellow fullback Kieran Tierney (Arsenal), Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay and Aston Villa talisman John McGinn are among those featuring.

Be sure to watch how Sheffield United forward Oliver McBurnie fares, as the 24-year-old continues his search for a first international goal (nine caps).

Scotland vs Israel Correct Score Predictions

Judging by the players I’ve listed and Israel’s dismal form, Scotland should prevail. With home advantage and better quality players on paper, I’d be surprised if the Tartan Army didn’t win here.
