Crewe

After successive defeats by Charlton and Hull to welcome them into League One, Crewe have won three straight across all competitions. Up next is an away trip to the Kassam Stadium on Tuesday evening, against a wounded Oxford United side determined for an upturn in results.

Since losing their playoff final against Wycombe Wanderers in mid-July, Karl Robinson's side have lost three of four third-tier matches to start the new campaign. They're hovering in the relegation places and that's something they want to quickly banish before their struggles continue. Will they achieve that here, or can Crewe climb up the table?

Oxford United vs Crewe Betting Tips

Gillingham earned the ultimate smash-and-grab victory on Saturday, at Oxford United's expense.

Quick-fire first-half goals from Vadaine Oliver and Jacob Mellis, as well as a third by Jordan Graham sealed a 3-1 home win for Steve Evans' men. However, the stats speak volumes too.

They had 26% possession over 90 minutes, recorded 16 shots (six on target) and completed just over 100 passes (53% success) throughout. Oxford had 30 shots (eight on target), missed four big chances and were busy at work trying to overturn their two-goal deficit.

Anthony Forde created a game-high seven key passes but didn't even have an assist for his troubles on a frustrating afternoon at Priestfield Stadium. It's likely they'll respond defiantly against Crewe, who've kept successive league clean sheets for the first time in 2020 after a 3-0 win over Wigan on Saturday.

Defenders Luke Offord and Harry Pickering got on the scoresheet, but Donervorn Daniels limped off after 13 minutes with an injury. Omar Beckles was a busy replacement and will presumably feature again here.

Oxford United vs Crewe Correct Score Predictions

Although Oxford's recent form isn't exactly encouraging, that can all change with one positive result. They are capable and determined to kickstart their campaign on Tuesday, against a Crewe side likely to frustrate.

With no clean sheets in their last 15 matches (all competitions), this won't be a straightforward victory. But having come so close to Championship football last term, they'll back themselves against the league's newcomers here.
