After the great success at the World Cup in Brazil, the German team begins qualifying for the European Championships. In a friendly duel a few days ago at home they lost by Argentina 4:2 and many people are asking did the German strong without the players who have retired from the national selection. They welcome Scotland to the Signal Iduna Park for Sunday’s opening European qualifier in Group D.
After their friendly defeat to Argentina in midweek, Germany’s talismanic forward Marco Reus has warned his side to avoid complacency ahead of Sunday's game. He said:"Scotland are strong. They have not lost for six straight games and they are a strong team with a fighting spirit. Scotland close down spaces quickly and so we will need patience and we need to be much better than against Argentina. We need to be more effective in front of goal."
Coach Joachim Low said:"As it stands at the moment we are not the fine-tuned team we were at the World Cup. Now we are missing seven, eight players. We have to work on our plays." The coach is without Bayern Munich midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger. Mesut Ozil, Sami Khedira and Julian Draxler also have been ruled out. There are also concerns over the fitness of centre-backs Jerome Boateng and Mats Hummels. Mario Gomez and Marco Reus have returned to the Germany squad after missing this year's World Cup triumph. But they have awesome team and their coach will not have problems to compile team.
The former Celtic boss, Gordon Strachan, is confident that his players share ambitions to qualify for Euro 2016. He said:"I'm really looking forward to the challenge now because I can sense the players are really looking forward to this game. So I'm encouraged by that. There seems to be no fear whatsoever in the camp. There's a reality obviously, we are playing the world champions. But there's no fear. I like that."
For Scotland's side defenders Christophe Berra and Andrew Robertson pulled out of the squad because of injury and Aberdeen's Mark Reynolds was called up as cover. Also midfielder Graham Dorrans have withdrawn from their squad through injury.
Germany vs Scotland. We think that Germany will easily take the victory in this game without conceding a goal.
