In their last league match, Genk defeated Zulte Waregem 1-0 at home, leaving them seven points clear of Union Saint-Gilloise on 52 points. That victory made it 17 from their last 19 in the FDA, while they have now won seven of their last eight on the road in the FDA.

After 20 matches, Westerlo finds themselves in seventh place with 30 points, with the visitors having been defeated 2-1 in their last First Division A match at home against OH Leuven, ending a four-match unbeaten streak (W2 D2 L0).

Genk enter this fixture as deserved favourites, and while Westerlo have lost just three of their last 10 at home, they have conceded at least two goals in four of their last five at home. Given that, the away side should be confident of picking up another big win in their bid to win a first FDA title since 2019 and only their fourth in the 21st century. 

The previous First Division A fixture between the sides saw Genk emerge victorious with a destructive 6-1 win at Cegeka Arena in October. Historically this fixture has been an entertaining one with eight of their last nine league meetings seeing over 2.5 goals scored. Considering Westerlo´s recent home form, which has seen 24 goals scored in their last five league matches at Het Kuipje, a similar outcome has to be expected.

With that in mind, we´re backing the over 2.5 goal selection while adding a Genk win should lift those odds above even money. While it might not be easy, we expect an entertaining affair with Genk strong enough to return home with points in a game where goals seem extremely likely.
