- Venue: Rodney Parade (Newport)
Wales U21 had a tough EURO U21 cycle last year, as they finished 4th, 15 points away from the 1st place in Group. Still, this year, the young Dragons are having an excellent start in the Qualifiers and currently hold 1st place with eight points. However, they played one game more than the rest of the teams in Group I.
Denmark U21 also missed the previous EURO U21, but they were much closer to reaching it than Wales. Denmark U21 played in the Playoffs and reached the finals but eventually lost to Croatia U21 on penalties. In this Qualification cycle, they came as the favorite to win the Group but had a mediocre start and won five points in three rounds. With a potential win over 1st-placed Wales, they could climb to the top of the Group.
Wales U21 vs Denmark U21 pick: Both teams to score
With seven scored goals in four games (1.75 per game), Wales U21 currently have the best offensive record in Group I. Also, they have scored at least once in the previous seven games in all competitions (four EURO Qualifiers & three friendlies). So, expecting a goal against any team on the home pitch is fair. On the other hand, the young Dragons had only one clean sheet in four rounds in these Qualifiers, and we do not trust them to keep a clean sheet against Denmark U21, which are objectively a better team.
Denmark U21, on paper, have a very good team, and we would be amazed if they failed to score in this match. On the road, they did fail to score in the last game vs Czech Republic U21 but they generally score regularly and have scored in three road games this year (before that last match). Defensively, we do not trust them to keep a clean sheet on the road, considering they already allowed two goals against Wales U21 in Denmark.
In the previous h2h match, in June 2023, we have seen a 2:2 draw in Denmark. Considering the last h2h games, Wales's good offensive record, and Denmark's potential, we think that both teams to score is the safest option for this tie.

Wales U21 team news
Striker Joshua Thomas received a straight red card in the previous game vs Iceland U21 and will miss the Denmark U21 match. With him out, we could see Joe Taylor starting as a replacement. Taylor has been solid for Colchester (on loan from Luton Town) this season, scoring seven goals in 17 appearances.
Midfielder Thomas Hill (Liverpool U21), who was in the starting eleven in the previous game vs Czech Republic U21, is injured and will not play in the upcoming game.

Denmark U21 team news
Lucas Hey and Alexander Busch received red cards in the previous game vs Wales U21 and served their suspensions in the previous game. They should be ready for the upcoming game. Interestingly, both players came off the bench and got ejected after one and 28 minutes on the field.
Two players who were in the starting lineup in the last match, right full-back Anton Gaaei and striker Alexander Lind, are not called for the upcoming games. Instead of them, we will most likely see Elias Jelert and Christian Rasmussen in the starting lineup.
One of the better midfielders on the team, Maurits Kjaergaard, is injured and is not called for the national team.
