Turkey

Turkey team overview

Turkey are searching for their third-ever World Cup appearance and their first since 2002 in Japan. However, they did pretty well in the Euros, considering they appeared in the last three tournaments and reached the Quarter-Finals in the 2024 Euro in Germany. Before the WC Qualifiers, Turkey did great in the UEFA Nations League B, securing promotion to League A.

In the WC Qualifiers, Turkey were good, winning nine points in four rounds, losing only to Spain. Since the third-placed Georgia are six points away, they are super close to securing at least that second place.

For the upcoming games, the team will miss Yunus Akgün due to injury. Meanwhile, defender Eren Elmalı is suspended due to betting allegations. He is suspended along with 1023 other players by the Turkish Football Federation.

Bulgaria

Bulgaria team overview

Bulgaria are a team that appeared in seven World Cups. However, none of them were in the 21st century, and it doesn't seem they will change that any time soon. Before the WC Qualifiers, they did well in the UEFA Nations League C but eventually failed to advance through the Playoffs for League B.

But if their UEFA Nations League performances were good, the ones in the WC Qualifiers were weren't, considering they lost all four games with a terrible 1:16 goal difference. So, in this game vs Turkey, they will have no result-wise motive.

For the upcoming two matches against Turkey and Georgia, several players will miss due to injury: Anton Nedyalkov, Petko Hristov, Ivan Turitsov, Stanislav Ivanov, Radoslav Kirilov, and Lukas Petkov.

Prediction

Turkey have been great for this bet as they went over 3.5 goals in all four games in the Qualifiers with an average of 5.8 goals per game. The fact that they scored 13 goals in four games, just two fewer than Spain, says a lot about their offensive potential. Still, defensively, they had their share of problems, and expecting a clean sheet against anyone seems unreal.

Meanwhile, Bulgaria were atrocious defensively, allowing three or more goals in all four games, and we expect them to continue to struggle.

Also, we saw seven goals in the previous h2h game (6:1 for Turkey). Also, three out of four h2h games ended with 4+ goals. Considering the trend in the h2h games and all the above, we expect at least four goals in this World Cup Qualifiers game.

4 Reasons why we should see four or more goals

  1. Turkey went over 3.5 goals in all four World Cup Qualifier games
  2. Turkey scored 13 goals in four WC Qualifier games
  3. Bulgaria allowed three or more goals in all four games
  4. Turkey won 6:1 win in the previous h2h game in October
