Torino have been primarily a mid-table team since arriving at the Italian top-flight division in the 2012/13 season. In the last two seasons, "Il Toro" finished tenth with 50 and 53 points, much closer to Europe than to the relegation zone. The current season started OK for them, as they won seven points in four rounds and are currently sitting in 7th place.
Not that long ago, AS Roma were constantly in the top three Italian teams, but in recent years, that has not been the case. They were unable to qualify for the Champions League for a few years and played in the Europa League or Europa Conference League. However, to be fair, they were very close to winning the Europa League last season as they lost in the Finals to Sevilla after the penalty shootout. Their goal this season is surely to try to finish in the top four places and secure the Champions League next season. Still, they did not start the current season well, as they won just four points in four rounds - three fewer than their next opponent - Torino.
Torino vs AS Roma pick: Over 2.5 goals
Torino were over 2.5 goals in three of the first five matches in all competitions. Last season, they had significant problems offensively at their pitch, averaging only 0.8 goals per game. However, with some changes over the Summer, they look a lot better. In the last two games, they scored a total of four goals vs Genoa and Salernitana and are in very good momentum, so we expect them to continue with good offensive displays.
AS Roma didn't have the season's best start, winning just one point in three games. But in the last two games, they won both games vs Empoli and Sheriff (in the Europa League) and, more importantly, looked extremely good offensively, scoring nine goals! Last season, AS Roma were one of the best defensive teams in Serie A, allowing only 38 goals in 38 rounds. Only Napoli, Lazio, and Juventus were better, but this season, Roma are not looking even remotely as good defensively. In five games, they allowed seven goals, with only one clean sheet. So far, they were all five times over 2.5 goals this season.
With both teams in good offensive momentums, and considering AS Roma played only high-scoring games this season, we think that over 2.5 goals is the best option for this tie.

Torino team news
One of the best central defenders, Koffi Djidji, is ruled out with a herniated disc and should be out until October. He still hasn't played any games for Torino this season. Another defender, although a backup, David Zima, will also miss the game with an injury.
Another significant absence is the one of midfielder Ivan Ilic, who is dealing with an ankle injury. Additionally, Mergim Vojvoda suffered a muscle injury for his national team and is also ruled out for the upcoming game.
On the other hand, Antonio Sanabria - Torino's top goalscorer last season, recovered from his injury and was on the bench against Salernitana. We will most likely see him for a limited minutes. Also, according to local media, Nikola Vlasic could return to the field against AS Roma, having recovered from his injury.

AS Roma team news
A starting central defender, Chris Smalling, is having health problems and will most likely miss his third consecutive game.
The team's captain, Lorenzo Pellegrini, who suffered a muscle injury vs AC Milan, should also miss the Torino game.
Besides those two, the starting striker from last season, Tammy Abraham, and defender Marash Kumbulla are out with ACL injuries and will be sidelined for a long time.
After a 2:1 win over Sheriff, coach Mourinho was not satisfied. He was especially unhappy with the first half, where, according to him, they did not have control, and taking a 1:0 lead was a miracle. Still, he said they were a bit better in the second half, creating good goalscoring chances. "The Special One" also called out Renato Sanches for always being hurt. It seems he is growing impatient with his new signing after only two and a half months at Roma. "He is always in doubt. It is difficult to understand why he is always injured," Mourinho said.
