A deflated Scotland plays host to Armenia for a UEFA Nations League fixture in what is sure to be a low-key occasion at Hampden Park on Wednesday.

Handily beaten by Ukraine last Wednesday, the Scots are sure to be mentally and physically fatigued following the ammer blow of missing out on the World Cup but they will need to be at their best to overcome a visiting Armenian side that is capable of causing some problems for their higher-ranked hosts.

Scotland had been in great form prior to the Ukraine loss, winning 6 and drawing 2 of their previous 8 while they had enjoyed a brilliant 12 match unbeaten run at home before Wednesday´s painfully one-sided defeat. 

Indeed, discounting the loss to Ukraine, the Scots would have been handily fancied to win here with the visitors arriving in Glasgow on the back of a dismal run of form which has seen them lose 4 of their last 6 away matches with a remarkable 20 goals conceded, including 9 in a heavy beat-down in Norway. Armenia have also failed to score in 4 of their last 5 away matches. 

Of course, Scotland doesn´t have an Erling Haaland to call in their attacking ranks, but despite their painful week, they should still be expected to take care of an Armenian side that surprised Ireland on Saturday with a narrow 1:0 win in Yerevan.

Ultimately, this could prove a tight night for Scotland, despite their status as overwhelming favourites but they should have enough quality to claim a low-scoring and narrow victory.in front of what is likely to be a sparse Hampden crowd.

However, the Scots are a bit short at just 1.4 odds on to claim the win and given recent circumstances,  we like the chances of the under 2.5 goal market here at 1.72 odds with this fixture likely to prove less than thrilling for the neutral.
