Still fighting for their Bundesliga lives, Schalke faces their final home fixture of the season with Eintracht Frankfurt, the visitors to the VELTINS-Arena. 

Currently occupying the relegation play-off place with just two games remaining, Schalke will surely see this fixture as a must-win with a daunting final-day fixture at RB Leipzig to come next weekend.

Picking up 21 points from their last 15 matches (Schalke had taken only nine points from their opening 17 games this season) while losing just four of those fixtures, the hosts have at least given themselves a chance to remain in the division with a much improved second period to the season.

A 6:0 loss at Bayern last weekend was certainly unwelcome, yet Schalke have shown real resilience to bring themselves within touching distance of safety. Losing just one of their last seven on home soil, Die Königsblauen have taken full points in both of their last two matches at the VELTINS-Arena, including a huge 5:2 win against relegation rivals Hertha. 

Visiting Eintracht arrives in Gelsenkirchen, currently eighth in the division but just a point short of the top six and guaranteed European qualification. With a DFB Pokal final against RB to come at the end of the month, Eintracht do have two potential routes into European competition next season.

However, they might struggle to reach Europe through their league results, with their recent away form, especially dismal. Failing to win any of their last ten away Bundesliga games, Eintracht have slipped to defeat in six of their last seven while they leaked at least two goals in all seven games. At least three goals were scored in six of those seven fixtures.

With those numbers in mind and with the greater incentive for the points, we fancy Schalke to pick up another massive victory in what could prove an entertaining contest. Over 2.5 goals have been scored in each of Schalke´s last five at home, and we expect something similar on what could prove a significant day in the Bundesliga relegation fight.
