Boosted by a huge win against Juventus on Sunday, Roma now welcomes Real Sociedad to the Stadio Olimpico in the first leg of their Europa League round of sixteen contest.

Europa Conference league winners last season and now fourth in Serie a, Jose Mourinho´s side will be keen to take a first-leg advantage to Spain, but they should expect a real battle with visiting Sociedad also sitting in fourth place in La Liga.

Both teams remain very much in Champions League qualification battles in their respective domestic divisions, and this tie looks evenly balanced, at least on paper.

Having also won the ECL last year, Mourinho´s side tends to deliver their best performances on the European stage and, with the confidence of vesting Juventus this past weekend, will feel good about their chances of taking advantage of a somewhat struggling Sociedad, who have failed to score in five of their last seven matches.

While we do expect a tight contest with the visitors not to be under-estimated - Sociedad have lost just one of their last 11 away EL matches - i giallorossi have enough confidence, quality and, backed by a vocal home support, should emerge with a narrow first-leg advantage.
