Last year, Real Sociedad had a great run in the final part of the season, losing just once in nine matches and finally finishing in the top four teams in La Liga. By finishing 4th, seven points away from the 5th-placed Villarreal, The White and Blues secured the Champions League for the first time in ten years. This year, Real Sociedad didn't start the season well in La Liga, considering they won just six points in five rounds.

When Getafe returned to La Liga, they had three outstanding years by their standards, finishing 5th and 8th twice. Still, in the following three years, Getafe finished 15th and were on the brink of relegation but somehow managed to secure survival. The 2023/24 season started much better for them, as they won seven points in five rounds and currently sit in 9th place. 

Real Sociedad vs Getafe pick: Over 2.5 goals

Real Sociedad were over 2.5 goals twice in the previous three games. Even vs Inter, where they were under this line, we saw two goals and one disallowed goal, so we could easily see another high-scoring match. Last year, Real Sociedad were a very good team on the defensive end, but now, something is off since they had only one clean sheet in six matches.

There was a big question mark of how will Getafe deal with the injury of their key striker, Enes Unal. But they seem to be just fine, especially in the recent three games where they scored five goals - 1.67 per game. So, we might see them scoring against Real Sociedad, which aren't used to playing every three or four days. On the other hand, Getafe are very poor road team and will surely have problems defensively against most teams. In the first two away matches, they allowed five goals, and primarily because of poor defense were over 2.5 goals in those two games.

These teams played two h2h games in the previous season. At Getafe, the home side won 2:1, and at San Sebastian, Real Sociedad won 2:0. However, Sociedad missed the penalty in that second game, so we were very close to seeing another game with three goals between these teams.
