  • Competition: England - FA Cup
  • Date: Saturday, 28th, January 2023
  • Kickoff: 18:00 UK / 19.00 CET
  • Venue: Deepdale (Preston)

Preston, the first champion of England and the first team to win the double crown, is a member of the second strongest league in the world, the popular "Championship" for years. Of course, the most important thing is that their survival was not in question, but also, the impression is that they have no ambitions for something higher than the middle of the table. This season, as per tradition, they are currently in the 11th position in the table with 40 points won, but if they catch a constant form, they could very easily secure a place among the best six clubs and finally play the long-awaited playoffs.

Meanwhile, Tottenham started the season violently, but since mid-September followed the variable form of the club from London which is still ongoing. With such a form, Spurs are slowly but surely losing a step behind the leading clubs of the Premier League. Antonio Conte's chosen are no longer thinking about the title since they are in a big behind compared to Arsenal - as many as 15 points. Of course, the team's goal is to take one of the leading places in the UEFA Champions League, but now they are behind by three points behind the fourth-placed Manchester United, who have a game less than them.

Preston vs Tottenham Betting Tips: AH2 (-1,5)

These two teams have crossed spears only once in their history. That last and only duel was played in 2009 within the EFL Cup. Then Spurs, with Peter Crouch's hat-trick, crushed Preston at "Deepdale", with a convincing result of 5-1.

Preston reached the fourth round of this year's edition of the FA Cup in England, after they turned Huddersfield "upside down" and beat them with a routine 3-1. Tottenham, on the other hand, played a sloppy match against Portsmouth. Suffice it to say that from practically the only shot on target, they reached a minimal triumph, 1-0.

Disappointing home form is the main factor why Preston are not already in the play-off zone. The Lilywhites are, after Wigan (9) and Blackpool (12), the weakest home team in the Championship, collecting 13 points.

The club from Lancashire is playing terribly in front of the home fans, since they enter into this clash with four defeats in the previous five games. Domestic form, in fact, is not the only concern for coach Ryan Lowe. Namely, his team clearly has problems with realization, scoring a miserable 8 goals in 14 home games.

Tottenham, meanwhile, continued with variable results after the World Cup break, but travel to Preston on a positive note, having secured an important 1-0 triumph over Fulham at the weekend. It was the third triumph in the previous five Premier League games on the side for Spurs.

The club from London is one of the most trophy-winning in this competition, as they have lifted the trophy of the English FA Cup eight times, the last time in 1991. Maybe Spurs struggled against Portsmouth in the third round, but now we expect them to demonstrate their attacking prowess in the right way, like in 2009. We hope that Harry Kane and company will pack at least 2-3 goals in Preston's net.

Preston will host Tottenham without Sean Maguire (Leg injury) and Emil Riis (ACL injury), while Benjamin Whiteman and Brad Potts, who missed the previous few games, will be further assessed.

The good news is that 34-year-old Ched Evans is back at the right time. After two games due to injury, he returned to the team and played the last 22 minutes against Birmingham at the weekend.

Tottenham Team News

Meanwhile, Antonio Conte won't have many personnel problems, as he will only be without the help of Lucas Moura, who is still recovering from a tendon injury, but the Brazilian's return is nearing.

The Italian manager should name an identical XI, as against Portsmouth. Also, there is a possibility that we will see Richarlison in the starting line-up, who has entered the previous three as a substitute.
