Boosted by a huge Madrid derby win, Atletico Madrid hit the road on Thursday as they take on Osasuna at Estadio El Sadar.

Now up to 5th in La Liga after Sunday´s 3:1 win against old rivals Real Madrid, Atletico arrives in Pamplona looking to improve on their last away performance.

Having previously scored a stunning 7:0 win at Rayo, Diego Simeone´s side fell to a shock 3:0 reversal at Valencia a fortnight ago. 

On the road, Atleti have struggled for consistency over the past 12 months - The visitors have only managed to win six of sixteen away league games since October last year. However, their away loss at Valencia was only their third defeat on their travels in their last 14 away from home. 

Osasuna comes into this contest, currently 11th in La Liga, with seven points collected from six games. 

Without a win in four matches, the hosts were held to a goalless draw against Sevilla this past weekend and have now failed to win any of their three home games played this season. 

Previous matchups between these sides have been dominated by Atletico, particularly in recent times. Los Colchoneros have won each of their last ten games against Osasuna since 2016. Impressively, Atletico kept clean sheets in eight of those wins, while they won by more than one goal in seven. 

Given Atletiico´s historical dominance in this fixture and their improved confidence from a weekend win against great rivals Real, I expect the visitors to return home with all three points.

Osasuna have struggled on home soil this season, and with Atletico victorious in eight of their last trips to Pamplona, I´m backing the visitors to pick up three vital La Liga points.
