Making their return to the competition for the first time since 2003, Newcastle´s first game in Europe´s premier competition sees them tackle last season's beaten semi-finalists. 

However, hosts Milan come into this contest shaken from a heavy 5:1 loss against city rivals Inter on Saturday. 

Having begun the season brightly with successive victories against Bologna, Torino and Roma, Stefano Piolli will now be under serious pressure to produce a much-improved performance from his side on Tuesday.

Newcastle arrives in Milan having secured a hard-fought home victory against Brentford. The Magpies had lost three successive matches against Man City, Liverpool and Brighton prior to their 1:0 success at the weekend.

A tough tie to call, given Newcasttle´s indifferent form and lack of experience at this level and Milan´s harrowing weekend loss, I like the chances of BTTS on Tuesday.

The hosts have struggled for clean sheets in recent games and, having leaked five on Saturday, could be vulnerable to a Newcastle side sure to relish their crack at the big time. 

On their travels, Newcastle have failed to score in just two of their last twelve matches, and I expect Eddie Howe´s men to maintain that run at the San Siro. However, Milan will surely prove capable of scoring themselves - Piolli´s side have scored in 12 of their last 14 home matches.

While I can´t pick a winner, I am backing BTTS for what should prove an entertaining affair at the famous San Siro.
