A mouth-watering FA Cup tie takes place at the Etihad Stadium on Friday evening as Premier League leaders Arsenal take on defending English champions Man City.

Fresh from scoring a huge 3:2 win against Man Utd last weekend, the Gunners head north with plenty of confidence to take on a Man City that have won both of their last two home matches following disappointing losses at Southampton and the Red Devils.

A likely entertaining and high-octane occasion has to be on the cards for this fixture between two of the most attractive sides in all of Europe.

Both sides have been free-scoring this season, with City averaging 2.65 goals per game in the Premier League while Arsenal have bagged an average of 2.36. The Etihad is very much the place to go for goals this season, with a whopping 76 scored in just 18 matches since the start of the season. That´s an average of over 4 per game. 

Historically this fixture has been very much dominated by the Citizens in recent years. Winning 12 and losing just 1 of their last 13 meetings since 2017, Pep Guardiola´s side have rarely struggled to take care of the Gunners. Yet, this is, of course, a vastly improved Arsenal side that has won eight of their last 10 away PL games. Most recently, the Londoners have won six of their last seven matches while scoring two goals or more in all six victories. 

Arteta´s hugely improved side suffered a painful 5:0 reverse when these sides last met in Manchester nearly 18 months ago. However, as we have seen this season, Arsenal have evolved significantly and will surely fancy their chances of finally ending their barren run at this venue. The Gunners have lost each of their last six at the Etihad since a 2:2 draw, back in 2016.

Ultimately, we expect fireworks on Friday with goals at both ends as near to a betting cert as you are likely to find this weekend, assuming both managers' name something close to their strongest starting XIs.
