- Competition: Belgium - Jupiler Pro League
- Date: Friday, 3rd, February 2023
- Kickoff: 19:45 UK / 20.45 CET
- Venue: Diaz Arena (Oostende)
KV Oostende, the club that finished fifth in the Jupiler Pro League just two seasons ago, is facing a serious crisis in this year's edition of the Belgian championship, and it is undoubtedly that the team of coach Dominik Thalhammer expects a tough job, when it comes to survival in the company of the best. The popular "De Kustboys" are stuck in the relegation zone, 17th position, after collecting a pale 18 points from 23 rounds played, two points away (with a game more) from the first position that guarantees survival.
The impression is that Anderlecht, the most trophy-winning Belgian club both domestically and on the European stage, has lost its championship gene in the last few seasons. The fans of this club are not used to the pale editions of their team and are very desperate and disappointed, and how could they not be, considering that they are waiting for the Jupiler Pro League title since 2017. What is even worse in the whole that story is that the guys in purple jerseys are getting further away from the famous 35th title, and getting closer to the red zone. They currently occupy the 11th position in the table with 28 points on their account, which is five less than the last position that leads to the playoffs, but also eight points above the danger zone.
Oostende vs Anderlecht Betting Tips: Team2 to Win
Anderlecht will hope to come out of the clash with KV Oostende as winners again, for the second time in the current season, after they fully deserved and routinely celebrated in the first in front of the home fans, it was 2-0.
Just when KV Oostende caught "what such" momentum, the championship was interrupted due to the World Cup, and at the worst possible moment for them. The club from West Flanders is catastrophically bad in the continuation. They serve as a "punching bag", which is confirmed by only one point won in seven games, with six defeats suffered.
The defensive segment of KV Oostende is absolutely the biggest problem in the current campaign. If they do not urgently tighten the defense, they will have nothing to hope for. The playoff zone is definitely too far, but the security zone could also come into question with such a defensive.
Believe it or not, the club from West Flanders have managed to register just one clean sheet in all competitions in Belgium, so their bad editions should not be too surprising Their attack is quite correct (25), but the critical defense with as many as 51 conceded goals makes it impossible for them to get out of the crisis.
Anderlecht, meanwhile, is playing hot and cold in the second part of the season. They are far from their old glory, but with a 1-0 triumph over Seraing, and then a 0-0 goalless draw against third-placed Antwerp in the previous two rounds, they managed to somewhat improve the atmosphere in the dressing room.
Coach Brian Riemer, before his team's visit to the Diaz Arena, should also be pleased with the fact that they significantly improved their away form after the World Cup, collecting 7 out of a possible 9 points from three games. This is a great opportunity for "The Purples" to further strengthen their confidence for the next period. They are a better team than KV Oostende and they should prove their quality on the field.
