  • Competition: EURO 2024 Qualifiers
  • Date: Thursday, 7th September 2023
  • Kickoff: 15:00 UTC +1 / 16:00 CEST
  • Venue: Astana Arena (Astana)

On Thursday afternoon, leaders of Group H, Kazakhstan and Finland, will meet in Astana Arena in Astana for the fifth round of EURO 2024 Qualifiers.

Kazakhstan secured first place in UEFA Nation League C, Group 3, leaving Azerbaijan, Slovakia, and Belarus behind. After that successful run, they started the EURO Qualifiers well. Right now, they are tied with Finland for the first place with nine points in the first four matches.

Before these EURO Qualifiers, Finland played in UEFA Nation League B. They finished second with eight points from six matches but were only one point away from relegation. They were lucky to win the last match vs Montenegro and avoid relegation. In these Qualifiers, Finland also won nine points as Kazakhstan but with a bit better goal difference.

Kazakhstan vs Finland pick: Kazakhstan to win or draw

Kazakhstan only lost the first game in these Qualifiers against Slovenia by 2:1, but after that bad start, they had three good games. They even won 3:2 against, objectively, the best team in the group - Denmark. Also, Kazakhstan have always been a strong home team, and that loss vs Slovenia is the only one in the last seven games in all competitions.

Finland also started the Qualifiers with a loss, but against Denmark (3:1), and then, like Kazakhstan, won the next three games. But before these Qualifiers, Finland were on a terrible streak. In 13 games in all competitions, they only won two times - both vs Montenegro.

Both teams are in good form, and even though the general impression is that Finland have a slightly better team, we think that home pitch advantage should be enough for Kazakhstan to secure at least one point.
