It seems that Ireland will stay without another appearance at the major tournament after they won only three points in the first four rounds. Actually, Ireland could still have some right to dream about EURO 2024, but they have to win against Netherlands on Sunday night. In the previous game, Ireland lost 2-0 on the road against France. The home side had 65% ball possession and 19 shots on the goal, so it is no wonder Ireland suffered another defeat. Ireland probably have a low level of confidence after another loss.

Because of the Nations League playoffs, Netherlands played only three games in the EURO 2024 qualification. Still, Netherlands won six points from those matches, so they are in pole position for the second position that would give them a place at the European Championship. On Thursday, Netherlands won 3-0 at home versus Greece. The home side's superb finishing made the difference in the game. If Netherlands shows that level of the game on Sunday in Dublin, Ronald Koeman's team can hope for another great result.

Ireland vs Netherlands pick: Netherlands to win

Ireland have serious attack problems. They scored only four goals in four rounds of EURO qualifications. Still, three of those four games came against Gibraltar. A lack of quality in the attack will lead Ireland to another defeat on Sunday versus the very good Netherlands.

Ireland and Kenny will feel a lot of pressure on Sunday.

Netherlands team news

Netherlands are certainly one of the top teams in Europe. What is also important is that Netherlands have a very young squad. Players like Matthijs de Ligt, Xavi Simons, and Cody Gakpo are under 24 years old but have serious roles in the team. Netherlands could be one of the top European teams in a few years.

Of course, Eredivisie was always like a factory for great talents, but it seems that they made another step forward in the last few years. Exciting years are ahead of us if you are an Oranje fan.

Despite Ireland home field advantage i still believe the Netherlands should keep their strong record in h2h versus Ireland going.

For ireland this game is a must-win and can be caught on the counter and netherlands will take advantage of that. Netherlands won against greece 3-0 and have been solid and been attacking great so i think they can brush off out of form ireland
