Inter are underachieving this season. They are already ten points behind the league leader, Napoli, so the championship race for them is probably over. Inter started 2023 with a win against Napoli, but after that came two not-so-good matches, a 2-2 draw against Monza and a 2-1 win after extra time in the cup against Parma. In the cup, Inter barely escaped defeat in the regular 90 minutes. Actually, Inter's Lautaro Martinez scored an equalizer in the 88th minute. Simone Inzaghi's team was much better in the extra time, so they secured the progress to the next phase. 

Inter are playing mostly low-scoring matches lately. They went under 3.5 goals in five of the previous six games, including friendlies. 

Verona are having relegation worries this season. They collected only nine points in 17 league matches, so Verona are six points behind safety. Verona were without a win in 11 games in a row, including friendlies, until Monday, when they won 2-0 at home against Cremonese. Although guests had many goalscoring chances, Verona defended most of the game well, so they secured the second win of the season. 

Verona have problems with scoring goals. They scored only four goals in the last seven matches, including friendlies. All seven games finished under 3.5 goals.

Inter have not been playing well since the season restarted. Still, their defense is one of the best in the competition, so Inter shouldn't have too many problems with a weak Verona attack. On the other hand, Verona improved recently, so Inter will not break their defense easily, as usual.
