Hungary secured their place at next summer´s finals in Germany with a dramatic injury-time equalizer in Bulgaria on Thursday. In a wild game in which both teams were reduced to ten men, Hungary fought back from 2-1 down to seal their place with an own-goal from Bulgarian Aleks Petkov.

Now top of the section, two points clear of Serbia who host Bulgaria on Sunday, Hungary can secure a higher seeding at Euro 2024 by finishing as group winners. As such, the hosts should be motivated for this final fixture. 

High-scoring contests have been a recurring theme of Hungary´s qualifying campaign. The Magyars have seen BTTS and over 2.5 goals in each of their last four qualifiers. 

Visiting Montenegro arrive in Budapest with their hopes of qualification hanging in the balance. The visitors must win on Sunday and hope Bulgaria do them a massive favour in Belgrade. 

While unlikely, I expect the visitors to give everything to claim what could still be an academic victory. With Hungary also in search of top spot, this should prove a more entertaining contest than their 0:0 draw in Montenegro earlier this year. 

Indeed, the visitors have also seen plenty of high-scoring contests in recent months. Five of Montenegro´s last six matches saw BTTS and over 2.5 goals scored including a 3:1 loss in Serbia in October.

Ultimately, I expect a competitive contest where both teams can score. While Hungary are favourites to win, the hosts have been held to draws by both Lithuania and Bulgaria in the past month. Considering those results, I prefer to place my confidence in BTTS and over 2.5 goals in this final qualification contest in Budapest.
