Before the start of the 2022/23 season, HSV looked like the best 2. Bundesliga team, but for most of the season, they failed to break into the top two places on the table that will give them automation promotion. Now, HSV have one more chance to find themself in Bundesliga next season, but they will need a miracle on Monday at Volksparkstadion. 

HSV's opponent for the final Bundesliga spot is Stuttgart, the team that had a lot of success throughout history but in the last few seasons are, struggling as well. Stuttgart most of the season spent in the relegation zone, but in the final rounds, escaped from automatic relegation. 

On Thursday, HSV and Stuttgart had the first leg of this matchup. In that game, Stuttgart won 3-0. After such a game, it is hard to imagine HSV winning with a big difference on Monday night in Hamburg and securing promotion to Bundesliga after five years in the second level of German football. 

HSV vs Stuttgart pick: Over 2.5 goals

HSV was the best-attacking team in 2. Bundesliga this season. They scored amazing 70 goals in 34 league rounds. HSV were very impressive at the home stadium, where they averaged more than two goals per game. Still, HSV is worried that they allowed three goals in the first game against Stuttgart. It seems that their defense is not on the level to compete with Bundesliga teams. 

For most of the season, Stuttgart struggled offensively. Still, in the last few weeks, it seems that they found a way to score regularly, so now they are close to Bundesliga survival. Stuttgart have a big lead from the first game, but they should be able to score at least once on Monday against a terrible HSV defense.
