Halmstad BK are one of the teams that constantly moved between Swedish first and second tier in recent years. Last season, they secured promotion from Superettan by finishing second, and in the current season, they are doing fine (by their standards) as they are in 10th place, six points away from the danger zone. 

Elfsborg had an exceptional first part of the season where it looked like they could run away with the title. But it seems that they are losing momentum, and their recent games are a big reason for concern. By losing the last game, they fell off the leading spot in Allsvenskan after a long time and now is the time to bounce back with a big win.

Halmstad BK vs Elfsborg pick: Over 2.5 goals

Halmstad BK, although in 10th place, are the fourth-worst defensive team in the league with 38 allowed goals in 23 rounds - 1.65 per game. If we take a closer look at their recent games, we can see just how bad they've been in the last month and a half. In the last seven Allsvenskan games, Halmstad BK allowed three (or more) goals on five occasions! Primarily because of bad defense, they were over 2.5 goals in seven of the previous eight matches in all competitions. 

Elfsborg scored 46 goals in 23 rounds so far - two per game. Also, they scored the most goals on the road in Allsvenskan (20 in 11 rounds). In the last two games, they did fail to score, but we think the game against Halmstad BK is the perfect opportunity to score a couple or more goals. On the other hand, we can't expect Elfsborg to keep a clean sheet on the road, considering they allowed six goals in the last three games. 

In the previous h2h game, Elfsborg trashed Halmstad BK by 6:1 and could easily score more. Despite losing two in a row, we still think Elfsborg should win, but more importantly, we expect another high-scoring game from these teams.
