An out-of-form Glentoran will be expected to return to winning form in the Premiership when they take on Ballymena United at the BetMcLean Oval. 

While separated by just three places in the division, a wide gap of 23 points currently exists, with Glentoran sixth in the division and Ballymena down in 9th.

Winning just one of their last four league matches, Glentoran´s hopes of a late title push seem to have been diminished, with the hosts now 14 points behind leaders Larne, albeit with a game in hand. 

Having picked up a big 5:1 win at Carrick Rangers, Glentoran would come crashing back down to earth this past weekend with a hugely disappointing home loss against Glenavon. 

The hosts have struggled for home consistency, with their last eight league matches at the BetMclean Oval yielding just three wins and four losses. 

However, visiting Ballymena´s form is even poorer, with the away side failing to win any of their last nine league matches while they arrive in Belfast having lost four of their last five Premiership games.

On their travels, Ballymena have been particularly weak, with the Sky Blues losing each of their last six away league games and ten of their last 13. In fact, David Jeffrey´s side have won only two of their last 13 road games and seems likely to see that run extended here, even if Glentoran have been off-colour over the past month.

History also suggests we should expect to see a Glentoran triumph, with Rodney McAree´s side winning four of their last five home matches against Ballymena. The Cock and Hens scored four goals in their two most recent home successes against the Sky Blues.

Considering all of that, we´re backing Glentoran to return to winning form, with Ballymena´s poor record in this fixture and recent away performances suggesting a home win is to be expected.
