After a disastrous run of form which had seen Germany lose four of five friendlies between March and September, the hosts have stemmed the tide under new boss Julian Nagelsmann.

Following their disastrous exit at last year´s World Cup, Germany had endured a miserable year before the arrival of former Bayern boss Nagelsmann. Having suffered a humiliating 4:1 defeat against Japan in September, the Germans have responded well with friendly wins against France and the USA before a 2:2 draw with Mexico.

High-scoring matches have been a regular theme of both nations' results over the past year. Germany have seen over 2.5 goals scored in seven of their last ten matches since November 2022. Likewise, visiting Turkey have seen the same outcome in eight of their last since September of last year. The Turks' numbers are even more consistent when they hit the road with 12 of 14 away matches since March 2021 seeing at least three goals netted.

Recent meetings between these nations have also proved entertaining affairs. Each of their last five matches since 2005 saw at least three goals scored while four of those matches also saw over 3.5 goals netted.

With both nations assured of their place at next summer´s finals, I expect an open and entertaining friendly where over 2.5 goals looks a likely outcome. While the Germans look to be improving under Nagelsmann, Turkey should prove stiff opposition and a competitive back-and-forth contest should be on the cards.

I´m backing over 2.5 goals with an expectation that Turkey can score while the Germans will likely emerge with a narrow victory.
