The Belgian Pro League continues on Friday evening as Gent look to extend their unbeaten run against struggling Dender.

While the hosts come into this fixture unbeaten in three games, Dender return to action having yet to pick up a victory this season.

Previous encounters have been infrequent, with just four previous encounters this century, with Dender yet to taste defeat against their more illustrious opponents.

Gent team overview

Gent come into Friday's Belgian Pro League contest in high spirits after a superb 2:1 win at Antwerp last weekend. Despite being reduced to ten men in the first half, Ivan Leko´s side showed plenty of grit and determination to emerge with a valuable road victory.

After losing two of their first three league games of the season, Gent have picked up some form, with a 1:1 draw against Club Brugge illustrating their improvements in the past month.

While the hosts have yet to find consistency in performance, a three-game unbeaten run (W1, D2) since a 3:2 defeat against champions USG in August, suggests this is a side on the rise.

Head coach Leko will be forced into at least one change to his selection this weekend. Samuel Kotto misses out after his red card against Antwerp. Max Dean, Stefan Mitrovic, Hatim Es-Saoubi and Maksim Paskotsi remain sidelined with various long-term injury issues.

Dender

FCV Dender EH team overview

FCV Dender make the trip to Planet Group Arena still searching for their first league win of the season after a 1:0 reversal against USG last weekend.

A dismal run of form has seen the visitors lose each of their last five matches, while picking up just two draws from seven league fixtures played this season.

Particularly poor on their travels, Dender claimed just one point from their last eight away Pro League games since the end of last season.

Head coach Hayk Milkon is likely to keep faith with much of the same XI that put up a strong fight in last weekend´s defeat against Pro League champions USG. Moïse Sahi Dion is the only confirmed absentee for the away side.

Prediction

Gent should take advantage of a badly out-of-form opponent on Friday evening. A home win is my preferred pick at Planet Group Arena.
