Finland vs Denmark prediction 10.09.2023

In the sixth round in Group H of the EURO 2024 Qualifiers, two teams from the Nordic region will face each other at Helsinki Olympic Stadium in Finland.

Finland played in UEFA Nations League B, and even though they finished second in the group with Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, and Romania, they were close to being relegated since they were just one point away from relegation. In these EURO Qualifiers, after the initial loss in the first round vs Denmark, they did very well and won four games in a row. Because of that good streak, Finland are at the top of Group H with 12 points from five matches. 

Denmark are one of the teams that appeared in the previous World Cup in Qatar but finished the competition in the Group phase with just one point in three games. In these EURO Qualifiers, they are objectively the best team in Group H, but after five rounds, they are in second place, two points away from the 1st-placed Finland. 

Finland vs Denmark pick: Under 2.5 goals

Finland have been very good defensively in these Qualifiers and kept a clean sheet in the last four rounds. On the other hand, offensively, they are not as good. If we exclude that 6:0 win over San Marino, who are the worst team in Europe, Finland scored only five goals in four matches - 1.25 per game.

At home, if we again exclude that game against San Marino, we can see that Finland only played low-scoring games. In the last nine matches, only the game vs San Marino finished with three or more goals. 

After an unexpected loss to Kazakhstan 3:2, Denmark started playing much better defensively and allowed only one goal in the next three games. Offensively, they haven't been too great, scoring just one goal vs Slovenia and Northern Ireland and four vs San Marino. But to be fair, four goals against San Marino is not too big of a success. 

In the previous h2h game, we saw a 3:1 for Denmark in Copenhagen, but in Helsinki, we expect a different type of match. Finland will be perfectly happy with one point and will probably try to slow the pace down. Considering both teams have been great defensively in recent matches, we might see a low-scoring game this time.
