  • Competition: EURO 2024 Qualifiers
  • Date: Thursday, 7th September 2023
  • Kickoff: 19:45 UTC +1 / 20:45 CEST
  • Venue: Parken Stadium (Copenhagen)

Denmark are one of the teams that participated in the previous World Cup, but their results were disappointing, as they finished 4th in Group with France, Australia, and Tunisia. However, they weren't as bad as the results show. After the WC, they started the EURO 2024 Qualifiers, and after four rounds, they are 3rd with seven points from four matches - two points away from Finland and Kazakhstan. On paper, Denmark have the best squad in Group H.

According to FIFA World Rankings, San Marino are the worst team in the World, but that shouldn't surprise us as they are one the World's smallest countries. They started the EURO Qualifiers with zero points in four matches, and winning one point in these Qualifiers would be a huge success for them. However, considering their results in recent years, that looks like an impossible task.

Denmark vs San Marino pick: Over 3.5 goals

Denmark were over 3.5 goals in two of four matches in these Qualifiers. So far, in four matches, they scored seven goals - 1.75 goals per game, but looking at their squad and offensive potential, we expect them to do even better. At home, they are generally a very strong team, winning nine of ten games and scoring 2.2 goals per game against much better teams than San Marino.

Also, goal difference might be a deciding factor since we could see a tough battle between Denmark, Finland, Kazakhstan, and Slovenia for the first two spots. So, we expect Denmark to give their best and score many goals.

San Marino allowed 13 goals in the first four matches - 3.25 per game. Now, on the road, against probably the best team in the Group, we feel they might get embarrassed and allow 5+ goals. Looking at their road results, whenever they faced a team of similar quality as Denmark, San Marino allowed four or more goals.

Denmark team news

The biggest question mark for Denmark is whether Rasmus Hojlund will play. Manchester United's striker missed the first three Premier League games but played 24 minutes in the last game vs Arsenal, and it looks like he fully recovered. We think we will see him at least for one half, but Denmark has many good options up front, even without him.

Brentford winger Mikkel Damsgaard is injured and is not called for the San Marino and Finland games.

Interestingly, the best Danish goalkeeper in recent years, Kasper Schmeichel, is still without the club. According to speculations, he could join Anderlecht in the following days.
