Currently eight points clear at the top of Group A, Scotland have made their best-ever start to a qualification campaign with victories against all four group opponents.

Under Steve Clarke, Scotland have improved enormously and comes into this fixture having lost only three of their last 20 matches since September 2021. 

After a solid win against the Cypriots last September, the Scots picked up impressive victories against Spain (2:0), Norway (1:2) and Georgia (2:0) to leave them on the verge of qualifying for their second-successive European championship.

On their travels, the Scots have won five of their last nine and will surely see this fixture as another must-win in their bid to qualify for Germany next summer.

Cyprus enters this matchup as big underdogs, having won just three of their last 23 international matches since August 2021. 

In qualification matches for both the Euros and World Cup, the Cypriots have lost six of their last ten home matches since 2019, and a similar outcome should be expected on Friday.

Finally, the h2h record makes grim reading for Cyprus. Scotland have won all eight previous matches between these nations, while at least 3 goals were scored in all eight games.

Given their renewed confidence and impressive recent form, I´m backing Scotland to win with something to spare on Friday. While Cyprus are not to be entirely underestimated, I fancy the Scots to return home with an ultimately comfortable away victory in a game where we can expect a few goals.
