Placed tenth and sixth in the Championship, both teams have made decent starts to their season and a competitive contest should be on the cards this weekend.

Preston arrives at Ewood Park currently inside the playoff places, having taken 25 points from their first 15 games of the season. However, North End have suffered a dip in recent weeks with only one win achieved in their last eight fixtures. 

Ryan Lowe´s side had begun the season in great form, with six wins and two draws in their first eight matches. A seven-game winless streak followed before a vital 3:2 success against Coventry last weekend. However, Lowe´s men have lost their last three on the road. 

Hosts Blackburn come into this fixture currently three points behind the visitors with 22 collected from 15 games played. However, Rovers are in much better form than the away side with four wins in their last five league outings.

At Ewood Park, Rovers' results have been particularly inconsistent, though. Jon Dahl Tomasson´s men have won three but lost four of seven home fixtures this season.

Given both teams' inconsistencies, picking a winner looks a particularly difficult task for this Championship fixture. So, with that in mind, I´m turning to the goal markets for our best bet on Friday. 

Jon Dahl Tomasson´s hosts have seen BTTS and over 2.5 goals scored in five of their last seven home fixtures, while Ryan Lowe´s visitors have seen the same two outcomes in four of their five most recent fixtures. 

Historically, this fixture has been a good one for goal-chasers. 11 of the last 14 meetings since 2015 saw BTTS, and I´m banking on a repeat this Friday.
