After the last season, when Blackburn finished 7th on the table and were so close to the promotion playoff, Jon Dahl Tomasson's team had ambitions to take one step forward in the 2023/24 season. Still, the start of the season is far from ideal, as Blackburn collected only ten points after eight Championship rounds. Blackburn lost the last two league matches, but on Wednesday, they won 5-2 at home in the EFL Cup against Cardiff. The home side had 57% ball possession and 13 shots more than the opponent in the game, so it is no wonder they recorded a relatively easy win.
After relegation from the Premier League, Leicester have the ambition to bounce back to the strongest competition. They have an almost perfect start to the season with seven wins from eight league rounds. Still, the Championship is always tiring, so Ipswich have also 21 points, while Preston are one point behind the league leaders. On Wednesday, Leicester lost 3-1 on the road in the EFL Cup against Liverpool. The guests had the lead in the first half, but in the second period, Jurgen Klopp's team scored three goals and recorded another win. Leicester lost in the EFL Cup, but that one loss shouldn't affect the team's confidence ahead of the game versus Blackburn.
Blackburn Rovers vs Leicester City pick: Leicester to win
Blackburn have problems in defense. They allowed nine goals in the last three matches. On the other hand, Leicester conceded only four goals in the previous four games, including that loss against Liverpool. Leicester are too good for Blackburn, so Maresca's team to win is the best bet fro this tie.

In the EFL Cup tie against Cardiff, Blackburn's head coach Jon Dahl Tomasson fielded mostly the players who didn't have so many opportunities to play this season. We should expect Blackburn to play with more regular starters on Sunday afternoon.
Blackburn will be without Sam Gallagher, Niall Ennis, and Ryan Hedges in the game versus Leicester.

Leicester City team news
Leicester's main goal for the season is to return to the Premier League. The team played against the great Liverpool in the EFL Cup, but the head coach Enzo Maresca didn't care too much, so he rested most of the starters in that one. The Championship is obviously a priority, so we should expect a better lineup on Sunday afternoon.
Dennis Praet, Thomas Cannon, and Callum Doyle are injured and will not play in the game versus Blackburn.
