Competition: Championship
Date: Friday, 5th August 2022
Kickoff: 19:45 UK/20:45 CET
Venue: St. Andrew's Stadium

Birmingham had a tough road match in Luton in the opening round, but John Eustace's team played surprisingly well, so Birmingham started the season with one point. A team from St. Andrew's Stadium didn't have good results in the preseason, but after a well-played game against Luton, they will be full of confidence.

Huddersfield are among the worst Championship teams, in my opinion. They could have problems with avoiding relegation this season. In the opening round, Huddersfield at home lost 1-0 against Burnley. The worse than the bad result is performance as guests dominated from the start.

Birmingham played well in the opening round, so I expect them to win on Friday night against struggling Huddersfield.

Birmingham Team News

After a draw in Luton, John Eustace, Birmingham coach, said that he was very satisfied with the defensive display of his players. He said: "They were in the right areas, they defended the box for their lives, they got up the pitch, the communication was good. The last three weeks have been tough for the boys, but it's all been structured in a way we want to defend."

John Eustace also talked about Krystian Bielik, Birmingham's top signing this summer, who missed the game in Luton. Bielik missed most of the preseason, so Eustace explained that the midfielder will need more time to fully recover, so we can expect the Polish international to skip the game against Huddersfield.

Huddersfield Team News

It seems that Huddersfield's best defender, Matty Pearson, will miss a more extended period, so Danny Schofield's team will probably sign a replacement in the upcoming weeks. Also, we should expect Schofield to give Jack Rudoni, Yuta Nakayama, and Tino Anjorin more chances to play, as the team looked much better when they stepped on the field last Friday.
