EFL Trophy action continues in Nothern Group F on Tuesday as Barnsley takes on Grimsby at Oakwell.

League One Barnsley heads into the match following a 2-0 victory over Cheltenham Town this past Saturday. Sitting with 10 points from six matches, Neill Collins's team heads into this fixture having won both of their last two league matches.

At Oakwell, the goals have been flowing this season, with over 2.5 netted in all four home matches. In fact, 19 goals were scored in those matches, with a minimum of four goals scored in each game. 

League Two visitors Grimsby arrive in South Yorkshire after picking up a solid home win against Gillingham this past weekend. Paul Hurst's side have now collected nine points from six games played in League Two. 

The Mariners began their EFL Trophy campaign with an unfortunate penalty shoot-out loss against Manchester City U21 last midweek, and their away record in this competition is not great either. Since 2016, Grimsby have lost all six road games in this tournament, with over 2.5 goals scored in all six games.

With home advantage and against lower league opposition, I expect Barnsley to pick up the victory on Tuesday. 

The Mariners have lost three of their last four away matches this season, and I´m confident that their losing record on the road will continue on Tuesday.
