- Kickoff: 19:45 UK / 20:45 CET
- Venue: Parkside (Aveley)
Last season, after finishing 4th in the regular phase in the Isthmian League Premier Division (seventh tier), Aveley went through the playoffs and secured promotion to National League South. It seems they carried that momentum as they started this season incredibly and are in 2nd place after 17 rounds - six points away from the 1st-placed Yeovil, but with an extra game played.
Chelmsford had a solid season last year as they finished 5th and secured the playoffs. However, the Clarets were stopped in the first game as they lost to St. Albans, which eventually lost in the finals. The current season started superbly for them, and they were in the upper part of the league's table, but it looks like they are slowing down. Right now, they are 7th with 26 points, six points away from their next opponent, Aveley.
Aveley vs Chelmsford pick: Aveley to win
Before losing the last game, Aveley were on an excellent run, winning four in a row with a 9:2 goal difference. Still, that 3:0 loss came on the road vs Bath, one of the better teams in the league, where Bath had two penalties. At home, Aveley have been outstanding, winning six of nine matches in the league - 67%. Now, after a big loss, we expect a good response from the team.
Chelmsford won just once in the last eight matches in all competitions (two in the FA Cup and six in the league). And considering they faced much weaker teams than Aveley, it is undoubtedly a very poor period for the Clarets.
In the previous h2h game, Aveley won 3:1.
With a home-pitch advantage and a much better form in the previous period, we think that Aveley are little closer to winning the upcoming game.

After a 3:0 loss to Bath, coach Danny Scopes spoke to for the club website. He wasn't too disappointed and said they are an inexperienced squad and still adapting to this level of competition. He also said the poor start in the first 15 minutes probably cost them points in this game.

Chelmsford City team news
According to the club website, defender Ben Brookes, who missed the previous two games with an injury, should be ready, and we could see him back in the starting eleven.
One of the best central defenders, Dave Winfield, was on the bench in the previous game vs Chippenham after missing the last six games with an injury. The experienced defender will most likely not start the game, but we could see him for a limited number of minutes.
