The Bundesliga continues this weekend with relegation-threatened Augsburg welcoming Leverkusen to the WWK Arena. 

Both sides come into this fixture on the back of weekend losses, with Augsburg falling to a 3:1 loss at Freiburg before Leverkusen´s disappointing 2:0 home reversal against Dortmund.

Leverkusen had won four league games in succession prior to their weekend defeat against BVB however, the visitors remain stuck in mid-table, placed ninth of eighteen with just 24 points from 18 matches following a desperately slow start to the season, which had seen them win just two of their first twelve Bundesliga games.

On the road, goals can usually be expected when Leverkusen are in town, with the away side seeing over 2.5 goals scored in eight of their last ten road games since the end of April. Leverkusen have managed to win their last two away matches however, just one clean sheet in those 10 games since April suggests defensive vulnerabilities remain their biggest concern. 

Hosts Augsburg have also been involved in some high-scoring matches of late, with seven of their nine most recent Bundesliga games seeing BTTS and over 2.5 goals scored. Unfortunately, their form has not been good, with a win against BMG a fortnight ago their only Bundesliga success in the past ten games.

Given those recent records, picking a winner in this fixture is a pretty tricky task, with neither side in particularly convincing form. Leverkusen have won their last two away from home but Augsburg have shown strength on their own patch, overcoming Bayern Munich earlier in the campaign. 

With that said, goals should probably be expected, with the over 2.5 goal choice looking the most likely outcome for this contest. Six of their eight most recent meetings saw that outcome, while each of their last five also saw BTTS. Putting the two selections together will likely deliver even money odds, and given both sides´ defensive issues, those outcomes look to have every chance at the WWK Arena.
