Atalanta vs Juventus prediction 01.10.2023

Atalanta have been mostly among the top four or five teams in the Italian top-flight division in the past several years. Last year, they were close to securing the Champions League, but in the end, they finished 5th, six points away from the 4th-placed AC Milan. The 2023/24 season started well for the popular "La Dea" as they are currently in 4th place with 12 points, three away from the top spot. They also started the season well in Europe by beating Rakow 2:0.

Juventus had another turbulent season due to financial malversations. The end result was not as harsh as in 2006, when they were stripped of some titles and were relegated to Serie B. This time, they had ten points deducted and were handed a one-year ban from European competition. If it weren't for that, The Old Lady would have finished 3rd and played in the Champions League this season. Still, despite not playing in Europe, Juventus again have an excellent team very much capable of winning the title. In Serie A, Juve won 13 points in six rounds and currently sit in 3rd place. 

Atalanta vs Juventus pick: Both teams to score

Atalanta have been very good this season, winning five of seven games in all competitions. They scored at least a goal in all games so far, and we can expect them to score at Gewiss Stadium literally against any team in Serie A. At home, they have been exceptional, winning all three matches vs Monza, Rakow (in the Europa League), and Cagliari with an incredible 7:0 goal difference. They did keep their net intact in all three home games, but to be fair, those teams aren't even remotely as good as Juventus.

Juventus also had a very good start to the season and, just like Atalanta, scored in all games this season. But on the road, Juventus showed significant problems defensively in the previous game versus Sassuolo, where they lost 4:2. Taking that last road game into account, we highly doubt they can keep a clean sheet vs. in-form Atlanta.

We have seen both teams scoring in two of the last three h2h games. The last time these teams met, Juve won 2:0 at Gewiss Stadium, but Atalanta undoubtedly deserved at least a goal, considering they had 24 goal attempts and, according to xG statistics, should have scored 1.18 goals.
