Following a sensational Serie A victory against Salernitana, Atalanta can continue their Coppa Italia run when they host Spezia at the Gewiss Stadium.

Scoring the visitors with a stunning 8:2 win, Atalanta were the first team to score eight goals in an Italian top-flight match since Inter won by the same scoreline against Padova in 1996.

Still, despite that handsome victory, the Bergamo-based side should expect a tough test on Thursday with visiting Spezia unbeaten in their last five league matches.

While still very much in a relegation dogfight, Spezia arrives in Bergamo with raised spirits following a fine 1:0 win at Torino. Still, with Atalanta scoring eight at the weekend, the visitors will know they are in for a tough night at the office against La Dea. Gian Piero Gasperini´s side have now scored 14 goals in their four most recent matches.

Indeed, goals have to be expected in this match, with each of the last four meetings between these sides seeing BTTS and over 2.5 goals scored. 19 goals were scored in those four matches, with La Dea claiming 3:1 and 5:2 victories in their last two home matches against the visitors. 

Given the recent performances of both sides, we expect BTTS in a likely entertaining and high-scoring match where Atalanta should certainly have more than enough quality to book their safe passage into the next phase of the Coppa Italia.
