After a dominant 3:0 win for Al Ahly in Tunisia, we are headed to Cairo for the second leg of the CAF Champions League Playoff Semi-Finals.
Al Ahly have been very successful in recent years in the CAF Champions League, with two titles and one second place in the previous three seasons. Surprisingly, they weren't as good in the domestic league and failed to win the title in two consecutive years. This season, they are doing great in every competition. In the domestic league, they are first with three points advantage over Future SC, but with five games less played. Another league title is looking really close.
Esperance Tunis is the club with the most trophies in Tunisia. They were very dominant in recent years, with six league titles in the previous six seasons. Still, this season, the title is slowly slipping away. They are in 5th place with seven points deficit to 1st-placed Etoile Sahel.
Al Ahly vs Esperance Tunis pick: Al Ahly to win
Al Ahly are on a ten-game unbeaten run. During that period, they were absolutely incredible defensively, with only one conceded goal - against Pyramids.
At home, Al Ahly won six games in a row in all competitions with a 16:1 goal difference!
Esperance Tunis lost three games in a row against CS Sfaxien, Club Africain, and Al Ahly with zero scored goals. That is by far the worst stretch of games for Esperance Tunis this season.
In the first leg, Al Ahly won by 3:0. Additionally, Al Ahly won five of the last six h2h games.
