AC Milan vs Fiorentina prediction

Boosted by Inter´s shock defeat at Bologna during the week, Milan will be looking to cement their position as Serie A league leaders when they take on Fiorentina at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

Now 2 points clear at the top with just 4 games remaining, Milan fans are beginning to get excited about the possibility of their side claiming a first Scudetto in more than a decade but they should be advised to keep the champagne on ice with Milan facing a potentially tricky run-in in the remaining weeks of the campaign. 

Indeed, with matches against Atalanta, Verona and Sassuolo still to come, Milan face what looks like a tougher remaining fixture list than rivals Inter and with both sides showing vulnerability in recent months, we expect this dramatic title race to go right down to the wire.

Previous meetings between these sides have been entertaining affairs with 4 of the last 5 seeing BTTS while Fiorentina claimed a remarkable 4:3 win when these sides met in Florence earlier this season. Milan had won 3:2 at the same venue in March of last year while they also claimed a 2.0 victory in this season´s reverse meeting at the San Siro. However, a similarly high-scoring encounter seems unlikely with Fiorentina struggling for form and Milan operating a tight defensive ship.

Ultimately, this is a tough fixture to call with Milan hardly that reliable at home but boosted by Inter´s midweek stumble, and by the poor recent form of the visitors, the hosts should be backed to maintain their stranglehold at the top of the league standings with a narrow and hard-fought victory.
